Fixing Errors in Zapier

Don’t Panic its only an error!

Let’s be honest, Zapier is great but finding how a workflow is not working or has broken down can be a bloody nightmare!! They are work arounds and ways to find out why the error is occurring. Here is a few techniques i learnt:

  1. Look through the sent information and see if any information is missing
  2. Make sure all required fields completed - This is easily done, all you have to do is in whatever platform your sending information to, go in and removed all required fields from the CMS - easy
  3. Make sure the right information format e.g Date is in the right box
  4. Delete all fields in the broken segment of the zap and add each one, one by one to find out what information is giving you the error. 
  5. Use the amazing postman tool which is free to find the source code of your application and how it presents information. This is rather more complex and if you don’t know any code, may be difficult. This tutorial on how to connect webflow with postman is very straightforward and clear. https://youtu.be/VOGBy3XMU8o
  6. If you are connecting with Webflow CMS and trying to send reference or selector fields, you will need to use a webhook. This process is a lot more complex and NoCoded will be making a tutorial on the subject in the near future. 
  7. If all is still not working properly, then you’ll have to swallow your pride and email Zapier support who are really good.
